Ashley Ellis
BESE District 5 Representative

Ashley Ellis has worked as an educator for over 17 years with positions as an elementary, middle school, and high school educator, and currently works for the Monroe City School District as the Assistant Principal of Neville High School. Most of her career has been spent working with at-risk students in high poverty communities. Ms. Ellis was named the Middle School Teacher of the Year for the Northeast Region in 2012 and went on to compete for the State Teacher of the Year. Her philanthropic heart drives her to volunteer with charities both local and abroad.  Three years ago, she began working with the Department of Child and Family Services to foster a child who she and her husband later adopted. Her fostering to adopt experience has prompted Ashley to begin work with the One Church, One Child initiative calling Louisiana’s faith-based community to recruit and support families to foster a child. She also serves on the planning committee for The Center for Children and Families Black and White Ball fundraiser which raises most of the operational funds for the center. She serves on various committees at her school as well as church outreach events in the community.
