Early Childhood Education (Act 3)

In 2012, three acts were passed into law as part of a statewide initiative toward major education reform. Act 3, known as the Early Childhood Education Act, was passed in recognition of the fact that Louisiana’s students must have a strong foundation to ensure their success at all levels of education. The statute calls for the creation of a statewide, integrated early-childhood care and education network which will establish uniform standards of readiness for kindergarten and, through coordination with other state agencies, align all standards for quality early-child education.
